    Dedicated to Health

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading university dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care. UCSF is the only UC campus dedicated exclusively to the health sciences. UCSF employs about 22,800 faculty and staff and is the second-largest employer in San Francisco.

    UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations

The UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations (CVP) conducts translational, practice-based implementation research to improve healthcare delivery and health outcomes for patients across the spectrum of health literacy. Our research has demonstrated the potential for new health information technologies to engage patients with limited health literacy in safety net settings and improve thepatient-centeredness of care. We recognize that healthcare communication is affected not just by patients, but also by the capacities of health care teams andenvironments to engage patients effectively.
